Comba Telecom deploys ComFlex Distributed Antenna System at International Airport in Latin America

ComFlex simplifies in-building wireless connectivity systems

(21 December 2016, Hong Kong) – Comba Telecom Systems Holdings Limited (“Comba Telecom” or “the Group”, Hong Kong stock code: 2342), a global leading wireless solutions provider, announced that an international airport in the Caribbean has selected the group’s ComFlex Distributed Antenna System (DAS) to meet its in-building wireless communication needs. The airport chose the ComFlex system over its competitors because of its flexibility and simplified management, enabling the airport to preserve its existing technology investments and support future upgrades with ease.

Mr. Patrik Westfalk, Managing Director of the Caribbean and Latin America (CALA) Region at Comba Telecom, said, “We are excited to help another international airport customer transform their business through our wireless solution. Through the deployment of ComFlex DAS, passengers, airlines, in-airport business tenants and airport staff will experience the benefits of strong wireless connectivity. It demonstrates our commitment to delivering more than just technology to our customers. We have streamlined the operational flows between the customer and its staff, vendors and other operators at the airport so the customer can focus on port operations instead of worrying about patching together wireless technologies.”

Airports face unique technical challenges in ensuring that passengers and businesses have ubiquitous wireless access to voice and data services. Without a high capacity, comprehensive multi-band and multi-system in-building wireless network, airports and other large venues can experience dead zones and connectivity lag. Comba Telecom’s market-leading ComFlex DAS solution closes these technical gaps and allow a seamless user experience anywhere in a large venues.

Specifically, the airport will use ComFlex DAS in its basement and common areas on every floor. Usually, for a venue this size, DAS management is complicated and costly. However, Comba Telecom’s ComFlex system uniquely simplifies and centralizes deployment and maintenance of the DAS. Typically, when a customer installs or upgrades DAS in its building, the DAS provider must customize hardware for the building’s needs, slowing down and complicating the deployment process. ComFlex reduces this complexity by supporting multiple operators and multiple 2G, 3G and LTE technologies. Its compact and modular design facilitates faster deployment and accommodates future upgrades, thus shortening lead times and ensuring optimum network performance. Because the airport can roll out ComFlex system for multiple operators and manage the solution through remote central monitoring, it will be able to enjoy the unmatched simplicity and cost effectiveness that ComFlex DAS promises.

In recognition of Comba Telecom’s achievements with ComFlex, the group recently won the 2016 Technological Achievement Grand Award at the Hong Kong Awards for Industries, standing out among its peers for innovation and technical excellence.

Local partnership enables wireless connectivity at the airport

To provide the international airport with the ComFlex DAS solution, Comba Telecom collaborated with its local partner TeleNetworks Inc to design and implement the in-building solution, which will support different technologies such as 2G, 3G, and the latest LTE 4G within the structure.

Mr. Ivan Caraballo, Sales Vice President and Operations General Manager of TeleNetworks Republica Dominica, said, “We are pleased at the opportunity to cooperate with Comba Telecom. The group has a well-deserved reputation for working with a whole ecosystem of partners to implement comprehensive turnkey technology solutions for customers, instead of offering mere technology products. We, as a member of that ecosystem, are excited to integrate our materials and equipment for this large-scale deployment of ComFlex, Comba Telecom’s award-winning DAS solution.”
