New Delhi, 25 October 2005 – Comba Telecom (HKSE: 2342 ), the leading provider of wireless solutions for the 2G and 3G mobile telecoms market, today announced the next phase of its international expansion with the launch of its India office to oversee its activities within the Indian sub-continent. To lead Comba’s India and South Asia growth strategy and initiatives, the Company has appointed industry veteran Rajiv Girotra as the Country General Manager, with responsibility for local sales and marketing, customer management and business development. Rajiv Girotra was previously a senior manager at ZTE Corp and has held a variety of management positions with companies such as Subex Cellcomm and Bharti Cellular.
In response to increasing demand from the Indian market, Comba’s Delhi-based office will enable the company to address the burgeoning mobile communications market. The company is now able to directly serve India’s mobile operators with quality wireless network enhancement and coverage solutions for both indoor and outdoor environments. Comba offers its customers a complete range of end-to-end solutions including subsystems such as repeaters, tower mounted products, antennas and backhaul digital microwave systems. Comba’s current customer base in India includes operators such as Spice Networks, Hutch and Airtel, amongst others.
Rajiv Girotra, Country General Manager for Comba’s operation in India said, “The Indian telecom sector is poised for the next phase of aggressive growth and is today considered one of the fastest growing mobile telecom markets in the world. In fact, industry estimates foresee an 11% growth in penetration by 2009 from the current 6%. The implications for the telecoms subsystems market is obvious – based on our own analysis, we expect the mobile operators to spend almost US$70 million for repeaters and in-building solutions over the next two years alone. Faced with one of the lowest ARPUs (average revenues per user) in the world, Comba offers a reliable and cost-effective network enhancement solution to mobile operators to help mitigate pressures on their margins.”
Simon Yeung, Comba’s Chief Operating & Strategy Officer, who also oversees the company’s international development, commented “Comba has long been present in the India market through representatives and the opening of an office is a natural progression that enables us to better serve our customer base and to address the huge market potential. Through our office, we will build and enhance a solid sales and support network by working closely with our business partners in India”. He further added, “We are pleased to have Rajiv spearheading our efforts in India. With his deep understanding of the market and proven track record with customers and suppliers, we expect Rajiv to be a significant contributor to our latest expansion phase and reap dividends for us in India”.
Comba offers mobile phone operators efficient and value-driven network coverage and enhancement solutions for all environments. The focus will be on providing active turnkey project management and customized network solutions to clients in India.
