Comba Ice Hockey Team Reaches Semi-Finals of 2016 Mega Ice Hockey 5s Hong Kong


<Date, Hong Kong> The 2016 Mega Ice Hockey 5s was held in Kowloon, Hong Kong, where Comba participated in the Asian B group stages. On 4th May 2016, Comba Ice Hockey Team played well, first with a 7: 1 victory over Hong Kong’s Kung POW Kings, followed by overwhelming the Japan Tokyo Egoists with a 10: 0 victory.  The streak continued with a 5: 0 win over Hong Kong Sammi Superstars team. Thus, Comba Ice Hockey Team reached the semi-finals after a three-victory winning streak with a goal difference of 21.

2016 Mega Ice Hockey 5s is now in its 9th year and was first jointly organized by MegaBox and Mega Ice in 2008.  The tournament features over 100 teams from Canada, France, Germany, Japan, China, Hong Kong, Taipei, Singapore and Thailand with about 1,500 players.  The tournament includes adult and youth divisions and held between 25 – 30 April and 2-7 May.

Comba Telecom has sponsored its own Guangzhou-based amateur hockey team since 2005.  The team members hail from a wide variety of backgrounds including government workers, business executives, teachers and students along with some retired professional players. The team is captained by Mr Niu Ye, Deputy Director of the General Office, Comba Telecom Group.
